QotD: Just Five More Minutes...
I am currently being as lazy as possible. I don't get up until the lightsaber battle going on right next to my head gets loud enough, or someone actually kicks me in the head. Lately I can ignore this as long as 8:00 am. All you working folks are thinking, what a lazy piece of work! Get up and do something useful! Well, I have a good excuse. During the school year, I teach early morning seminary. This is a class of about 12 teenagers between the ages of 14 -18. We study the scriptures for an hour before they go to school. It is volunteer work, I don't get paid a dime. It sounds crazy, but Mormon kids all over the world go to seminary every day before school. It is really amazing- they shuffle in tired as anything, cranky and bleary. They leave pumped up and raring to go to school with their heads (hopefully) filled with some sweetness and light to get them through the jungle currently called American high school. I love seeing the look in their eyes as they learn the gospel and see how they can apply it to their lives. To be there on time, showered, dressed in a skirt, I have been getting up at 4:30 am sharp. I usually have everything ready to go the night before, so all I have to do is throw on my clothes and go, because the weather is always dicey here. As I run out the door, I kiss my husband and try to get him awake so he can get a start on getting the babies ready for school. So anyway, I have only done this for one year, and besides being tired, I loved it. This fall, we are going to have it at my house instead of the church, so I will be able to sleep a tiny bit longer. In the meantime, I am savoring staying up late and sleeping in, August is right around the corner, and then Seminary will begin. We will be studying the Old Testament. Noah's Ark, Jonah and the Whale, Abraham and Moses. Bring it on, I can hardly wait.

That's a nice thing you're doing, kRista. And that's a very challenging age group. I'm sure your teachings have helped the kids in some way. Even if it's just one child...fantastic! You're so sweet :)
Sleep in as looooooooong as you want to, kRista --- you deserve it!

One of my Co-workers did this for the last two school years and he had a blast doing it. The Mormon kids in our town are especially lucky as the Church(?) Temple I know is the wrong term. is right across the street from the high school. and Mike Walters put on an excellent class. We got to see some of his props and hear about some of his lessons.
